A little farther south of my position, I found a giant gothic castle in Nolidae. I browsed around for a little while, then continued west.

I soon entered the sim Promissa, where I found a most luxurious house
owned by Tessy Kaos, which soon will be used as a chapel for the
wedding of Jameson Kipling and Hollee Hedges (Congrats!).
Tuesday, November 29, 2005

My second telehub was encountered in Drinker,
bordered closely by a long line of gambling games. Commercialism had
won out this area, as it had many other areas worldwide...

I didn't stick around for very long.

I continued my voyage to the west, passing over some high mountains
(with the help of my trusty yet geeky-looking BL00 Jetpack - which is a
misnomer, as the pack is actually red). As I flew through, I discovered
a wonderous sight: a giant castle (located in Arches)
was built into the cliffside, with flags and fountains and everything.
I spent a bit of time exploring the castle before moving on.

To the east (and a little south) I found a beautifully simple and elegant sanctuary built on the ridge of the mountain, in Perizoma.
Exploring here was a relaxing way to spend my time, and it was here
that I decided to call it a night, sleeping under the stars.

Note: pictures are on their way! I just have to find a nice webhost first....
came accross my first telehub... And a neat little scratch-off game
called Shark Attack. After figuring out how the game worked (e.g.
reading the instructions) I proceeded to sit down and win around L$100
(after losing around L$300). I then deemed it time to move on.

Many empty sims (and for-sale signs) later, I came upon a very odd
sight... A blue airplane, built by Cory Linden, was spinning wildly on
its nose in Mullein, not falling over or going anywhere, but just spinning... As if it had nosedived and its occupants had abandoned ship.

A few sims later, in Wainscot,
I finally found civilization... In the form of large homes, shops,
giant lighthouses, and a plethora of amateuristic builds. Though,
amidst the chaos of land-rushing occupants and their gaudy structures,
there lay a single, modest Japanese temple. Here I rested for a bit before continuing on my journey.
A place called "Club Control", which seemed to be a BDSM club out in the water on an island. Nothing else in sight.

Somewhat bothered, I continued my voyage southward, hoping to find
something more interesting. Clubs are all too common in SL, and I was
looking for something new...

The next place in line was a sim called Ranunculus,
which was completely empty and owned by Governor Linden. It seems that
the northernmost sims are new, and that Club Control was still a work
in progress. I made a note to myself to come back in a month and see
how things had developed, before making any final judgements as to how
that sim was going to turn out.

I flew around for a bit, exploring each of the northern sims, seeing
the occasional Avatar or two, but finding nothing of much interest...
Sure, the land would be great for meditation, being pure and natural
and empty, but at the moment I wasn't in a very meditative mood...
I live in Bretton, above Winter's Creations. I actually live in the Black Sun,
a club that I started (based in part from a book called Snow Crash from
which the Lindens gained the inspiration to create Second Life) above
Winter's shop. Currently, I reside in the DJ booth, but I haven't got a
real home quite yet.

So...

I have decided to go on a voyage, while my good friend Winter Hatfield builds a home for us to stay in.

I shall be exploring the lands of Second Life, from the tip top of the
map all the way to the very bottom, checking out every sim in between.
I shall write about all the interesting things I see along the way, as
well as my experiences and such, and hopefully I'll post some pictures
up now and again. Once I finish with the mainland... I shall begin
exploring the many Islands.

Wish me luck!
